Mind over matter? Is the pen mightier than the sword? What is more important, gameplay or graphics? Yes, it is. Take a look at the resurrected Fallout saga. Fallout 3 was an excellent RPG, but fails to be an excellent Fallout game. Some people (including me) says that it shouldnt be considered a Fallout game. It doesnt has the touch, recovered by New Vegas. In both cases, the old game athmosphere and feeling is no longer there. It doesnt matters how good the modern graphics look (and they dont), the old games are, definitely, classics.
So, game programmer newbie, pay as much attention to gameplay as you pay to graphics. Great graphics will impress once, good gameplay will keep gamers enjoying your work again and again.

Farewell to ATI
In a couple of years, the name ATI will be a vague memory. A retrospective of 25 years in pictures, at Tom's Hardware. As a loyal ATI user, I just have to say that I will miss the name, but I hope that the spirit will remain.

SDL 1.3 community tutorials
One of the SDL mailing list users has started a project dedicated to SDL 1.3 community tutorials. I havent been able to check it, as Google code is blocked to my country, but I guess it is a good place to get used to the next generation SDL.
